D22 Update – July 4, 2023 – Independence Day

We have a total of 34 guests currently at the police station. We had to say goodbye to three of our asylum seekers, most notably Juan Carlos – the artist.

We are having a special celebration at the Edna White Garden tonight in celebration our nation. We are having a traditional picnic. Please bring a side dish to share. Thank you Melissa!

Today is the 247 anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence

If you are in the position, please consider a monetary donation to help defer the costs. The 19th Ward Mutual Aid covers all expenses as they relate to our refugees. The costs do add up over time and as we get new asylum seekers. We start over with every new group. We make sure that there is a soft bed and a full tummy for the children and adults. Please consider whatever you can to help our newest neighbors.
