D22 Update – June 29, 2023

We have some new additions to the D22 family today. We have two newly arrived families of four. A family of four that arrived yesterday has been moved to another location. We have a total of 24 people staying at D22 (including our unhoused citizens) Finally, we have a recent development regarding a family of two where the husband was in the hospital. He will be the first in the pilot program to get Airbnb 30-day voucher as he convalescence. He will also be the first in a pilot program where a company that has been contracted by the City will arrange care coordination which includes meals, transportation, and appointments.

Tonight, we are having our English Education class at the Edna White Garden next door to the police station. We will also be distributing a needs assessment document that will fulfill over the next couple of days.

We were able to bring air mattresses to the station to the asylum seekers to sleep upon. We needed to run out and pick up an air pump too. While we were out, we picked up some storage containers for our donated clothing. This will allow us to be better organized for new arrivals.
